MED SPA · WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA

How Method of Beauty Grew Search Visibility 46% and Ranked 406 Keywords From Zero

A med spa with a five-star reputation that almost nobody could find. In three months it went from ranking for its own name to holding 138 non-brand keywords in Google's top three, including the near-me searches that bring patients through the door.

THE GOAL

Make a well-reviewed practice findable for the treatments it actually sells, and fix the booking path so the demand converts.

The challenge

Method of Beauty was not a struggling business. Ninety-nine patients had left five-star reviews and the providers were excellent. Three separate things were keeping new patients from ever reaching them.

The site ranked for its name and almost nothing else

Search the practice by name and it was there. Search for the treatments it actually sells, and it was not. That meant the website only worked for people who already knew about them, which is the definition of a marketing channel that is not doing any marketing.

The booking path was not recording a single conversion

The booking button's conversion event was being silently killed before it fired. The conversions the ad platform did report were people viewing a one dollar gift card page. Every decision anyone made from that data was made from noise.

The phone system was turning patients away

The phone account's timezone was set to Central. Callers in California were being told the clinic was closed while it was open, and an after-hours greeting played twice. Nobody had noticed because nothing in the marketing stack was watching the phone.

The results

Positions are from Google Search Console, comparing our first three months to the equivalent window before us. Some near-me results are locally influenced, where the click goes to the Business Profile rather than the site. That is the point of local search.

How we did it

Four workstreams run together, because rankings without a working booking path are a vanity metric.

Rebuilt the site around treatments, not the practice

26 treatment pages rebuilt on a conversion template, two dedicated landing pages for paid traffic, and the treatment menu, memberships and contact pages rebuilt from scratch. Before and after galleries added to the homepage and menu, swipeable on mobile. Each treatment finally had a page that could rank for the thing it sells.

Rebuilt the path from interest to booking

When the client's booking widget failed, we shipped a three option chooser, call, text, or online form, across every page the same day so no enquiry was lost. The contact form was rebuilt around booking intent: it now asks how soon someone wants to be seen, and the message field is optional. The form moved above the fold on desktop and ahead of the photo on mobile.

Rebuilt the measurement from the ground up

Google Tag Manager rebuilt entirely: GA4, Meta Pixel, ad conversions, phone call and text click tracking. We found and fixed the killed booking event, then caught that the reported ad conversions were gift card page views and rejected a platform recommendation to hand bidding over to that broken signal.

Made an existing five-star reputation visible

The practice holds a perfect 5.0 across 99 Google reviews (Aug 2026), and none of it showed in search results. We added review structured data and surfaced the rating on the pages where people decide. The reviews were earned by the providers. Our job was making sure searchers could see them.

Business impact

The practice went from being findable only by people who already knew its name to appearing in the top three for the searches people use when they are choosing a provider. Review structured data turned a reputation that was already earned into a star rating in search results, worth 1,058 impressions and 29 clicks that did not exist before.

Underneath the rankings, the business can now see what is working. The booking path records conversions, the phone answers when it should, and no one is optimising against gift card page views.

Google Ads results are deliberately not claimed here. That account is new and its conversion tracking was rebuilt as part of this work, so any number from it would be meaningless today.

The number most agencies would hide

Average position went from 16 to 21 during this period. That looks like a decline and it is worth explaining, because it is the opposite.

The site went from ranking for a few hundred terms to ranking for more than fifteen hundred. Four hundred and six of those keywords had never ranked at all, and new keywords enter at positions twenty to forty. They pull the average down while total visibility climbs. We optimised for reach first and rank second, which is why impressions rose 46% while the average dipped.

We publish this because you should expect an agency to explain its own data rather than curate it.

Quality, not just volume

Traffic is easy to buy and hard to make count. In the same month, paid social sent 1,941 sessions that engaged at 5% and left after one second. Organic search sent 213 sessions that engaged at 61% and stayed fifty seconds.

Eleven times the engagement, fifty times the time on site. That is the difference between traffic and patients, and it is why the search work came first.
