- Our research labels
- Early (Series A/B) · AI · Enterprise / B2B software · Healthcare / bio · Deep tech / hardware
Check size, fund size and how to reach the firm are not listed here. The firm's own website is the source for current terms and contact instructions.
How to use these lists
- Pick a sector first. The sector filter shows only that sector's lists; stage and office narrow them further.
- Read the firm's own words. A specialist and a generalist can carry the same label. That is why the healthcare list is split: 9 specialists first, then 55 multi-sector firms.
- Expect repeats. 57 firms name more than one of these sectors, so they appear in more than one list; Oak HC/FT, for example, is in healthcare and fintech. The count in the toolbar shows each firm once.
- Confirm on the firm's own site that the focus and stage still apply before you reach out.
Healthcare venture capital in 2025
US life sciences companies raised $37.25 billion across 1,908 venture deals in 2025, up from $35.69 billion in 2024, according to the PitchBook data in the NVCA 2026 Yearbook. Even so, that was 11.64% of all US venture dollars, the smallest share in the Yearbook's series, which starts in 2004. Drug discovery was the largest life sciences segment, at $17.4 billion.
The Yearbook's life sciences figures cover drugs, biotechnology and medical devices; its segment list does not include digital health, which many of the multi-sector firms here name.
How we built these lists
We list a firm under a sector only when it carries our research label for that sector and its own description of its focus names it. Our labels can be broader, for example when a firm's portfolio suggests a sector its own description does not mention, so a profile can show a label without the firm appearing in that list here. Specialists are the firms whose stated focus names health, life sciences or biotech and nothing else.
We group firms by their stated investment focus and the research classifications in this directory. A category match is a reason to investigate, not evidence that a firm will invest. Current terms and contact instructions belong on the firm's own website.
Corrections, and what is not here
Firms change. If a detail is out of date, use Suggest a correction on the firm's row and include your source. We do not list check sizes, fund sizes or contact details; the firm's own site is the source for those.
Investor research and marketing are separate jobs, and this directory is only about the first. If marketing is on your list too, our pages on marketing for technology companies and marketing for medical practices explain how we work.
Frequently asked questions
What are healthcare VC funds?
Venture capital firms that invest in health and life sciences companies, from biotech and therapeutics to medical devices and digital health. In this directory, 9 firms focus on health and life sciences alone, such as Atlas Venture and Versant Ventures, and 55 more name health among other sectors.
Which VC firms focus only on healthcare and biotech?
In this directory, 9 firms describe their focus as health, life sciences or biotech alone: 5AM Ventures, Atlas Venture, Polaris Partners, Samsara BioCapital, Santé Ventures, Sofinnova Investments, Third Rock Ventures, Versant Ventures and Vivo Capital. What are the top fintech venture capital firms?
It depends on your stage and what you build. This directory lists 43 firms that name fintech; Nyca Partners, QED Investors, Ribbit Capital and TTV Capital describe their focus as financial technology alone. Our ranking of the VC firms founders search for most measures only search demand.
Is a sector list a recommendation?
No. The lists are research classifications based on each firm's own description, not a recommendation and not a sign that a firm is investing now or would invest in you. A sector match is a reason to research a firm further.
