How to use this directory
Los Angeles firms range from pre-seed funds to real estate technology and consumer brand investors, so the city says little about fit. Start with stage, then read each firm's own words.
- Filter by stage first. 4 of the 11 firms carry a pre-seed or seed label, based on their own descriptions; 3 describe investing at growth stages.
- Then by sector. Several firms here are specialists: Fifth Wall in real estate technology, Science Inc in consumer brands. Our labels are shorthand; each profile shows the firm's own wording.
- Check the office. Some Los Angeles firms also work from San Francisco, New York, London or Singapore. The profile shows each location as verified.
- Read how the firm wants to hear from founders on its own site. Many prefer an introduction.
Venture capital in Los Angeles
The NVCA's public data reports venture activity by state, not by city. In 2025, California companies drew $191.2 billion, or 59.76%, of the $320.0 billion invested in US venture-backed companies, and made up 31.52% of the 14,757 companies funded, according to the PitchBook data in the NVCA 2026 Yearbook. That total includes the Bay Area, so it says little about Los Angeles on its own.
This directory covers the 11 Los Angeles-based firms with enough public evidence for an accurate profile. A firm based elsewhere that also has a Los Angeles office, such as New York-based Greycroft, appears in its home region's directory, in this case New York.
How we built this directory
We group firms by their stated investment focus and the research classifications in this directory. A category match is a reason to investigate, not evidence that a firm will invest. Current terms and contact instructions belong on the firm's own website.
Each record lists the pages we checked for it and when, and we re-read every firm's homepage on September 14, 2026. Inclusion means a firm has enough public information to profile accurately, not that it is investing now, and nothing here suggests a relationship between any firm and Mining Wells.
Corrections, and what is not here
Firms change. If a detail is out of date, use Suggest a correction on the firm's row and include your source. We do not list check sizes, fund sizes or contact details; the firm's own site is the source for those.
Investor research and marketing are separate jobs, and this directory is only about the first. If marketing is on your list too, our pages on marketing in Los Angeles and marketing for technology companies explain how we work.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best venture capital firms in Los Angeles?
It depends on your stage and sector. This directory lists 11 Los Angeles firms with their stated focus. Our ranking of the VC firms founders search for most measures only search demand, which is not the same as fit.
Which VC firms in Los Angeles invest at pre-seed or seed?
In this directory, 4 Los Angeles firms carry a pre-seed or seed label, based on their own descriptions: Amplify.LA, Crosscut Ventures, Mucker Capital and TenOneTen Ventures. Confirm on each firm's site that it still invests at that stage.
How many venture capital firms are in Los Angeles?
There is no official count by city, and the NVCA's public data reports by state. This directory profiles 11 Los Angeles-based firms with enough public evidence to describe accurately.
Is this a list of investors who will fund my startup?
No. Inclusion means a firm has enough public information to profile, not that it is investing now or would invest in you. A category match is a reason to research a firm further, not a prediction.
