//San Diego · Marketing agency

A San Diego marketing agency for businesses with more than one audience.

Most San Diego businesses sell to at least two different people: a research buyer with a long approval chain and a walk-in customer deciding on a phone. We look at how each one finds you, what happens after the click, and what your reporting can actually prove. Then we tell you what deserves the next dollar.

Work directly with our founders. No account-manager handoff.

Already operating? You are in the right place.

We work best with businesses that have customers, a real offer and a marketing budget set aside. Still forming the company, or looking for no-cost startup help? Use our free San Diego startup guide instead. It is the better starting point and it costs nothing.

What changes in San Diego.

San Diego is several economies sharing one map. Life sciences sit around Torrey Pines and UC San Diego, the Navy and defense work runs along the harbor, tourism fills Balboa Park, the Zoo and the USS Midway, and the craft beverage and restaurant trade fills the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy and North Park. A business here often serves two of those worlds at once.

That changes the marketing question. A research buyer reads for weeks and involves colleagues before anyone calls, while a visitor or a neighborhood customer decides in minutes on a phone. Those two buyers need different pages, different proof and different measurement, and the common mistake is running one campaign at both and judging it on a single number.

What we would look at first.

  1. 1Are the right people finding you?Search, maps and paid placement for the terms that carry buying intent, not the ones that only carry volume.
  2. 2Are you paying for the right demand?Spend against what converts, and an honest look at the demand you are buying that was never going to.
  3. 3Does the site finish the job?The offer, the proof and the next step, on the page the traffic actually lands on.
  4. 4Can the owner tell what worked?Calls, forms and bookings traced back far enough to make the next budget decision defensible.

Already have an agency? Good. Bring the report.

We will tell you what looks healthy, what we cannot verify and where we would look first. If the current setup makes sense, we will say that too. You do not have to fire anyone to get a second read.

Founders stay.

The people you meet stay on the account. There is no sales handoff and no junior takeover after the contract is signed.

Yours to keep.

Accounts, domains, ad platforms and content are in your name. If we part ways you keep all of it.

Month to month.

No annual lock-in. We would rather keep the work worth renewing than hold you to a term.

//Common questions

What San Diego owners ask us first.

Do you work with businesses outside California?

Yes. Mining Wells works with clients nationwide. We are headquartered in Orange County, California, and Jessica and Ben stay directly involved on every account.

We sell to both consumers and institutions. Does that need two marketing programs?

Usually it needs one plan and two paths. The audiences share a brand and a website, then split at the point where one needs evidence for a committee and the other needs a fast answer and a way to book.

Do I need to know which service I need before I call?

No. We diagnose first. Most owners arrive asking for one channel and leave with a different first move, because the thing limiting growth is rarely the thing that is easiest to name.

What if we already have an agency?

Bring the report. We will tell you what looks healthy, what we cannot verify and where we would look first. If the current setup makes sense, keeping it is the right answer and we will say so.

Can you guarantee leads or rankings?

No. We will tell you what we expect to move, roughly how long it usually takes and what would tell us early that the plan is wrong. That is a more useful promise than a number nobody can hold us to.

Tell us about the business and where the marketing is getting stuck. We will write you a plan for it, free, and tell you honestly if we are not the right people to run it.

No cost. No obligation. No pitch if it is not a fit.
